Frequently Asked Questions

General Role & Services

What does a Digital Consultant do in Construction?

A Digital Consultant helps Construction companies adopt and integrate Digital field tools and processes to help improve efficiency, collaboration, and data management across the project lifecycle.

How is your role different from a BIM Manager or IT Consultant?

While a BIM Manager focuses on model coordination and standards, a Digital Consultant looks at broader digital strategy, including software ecosystems, data interoperability, automation, and innovation.

However, at Asset Plus Digital we integrate all of the above in to our services having experience as BIM professionals and within Senior Leadership position developing and executing Digital Transformation strategies.

Technology & Tools

Which digital tools do you recommend for Construction projects?

Recommendations depend on project size, project or company requirements and goals, and existing processes.  Common tools include, but aren’t limited to,  Autodesk Construction Cloud, ProjectWise, Trimble, Revizto, Power BI, and project management platforms like Procore or Asite.

Can you help us choose the right Common Data Environment (CDE)?

Yes, this is exactly what we want to help our Clients with.  We assess your project needs, team structure, and compliance requirements to recommend and implement the most suitable CDE.

Project Delivery & Information Management

How do you support compliance with the UK BIM Framework and ISO 19650 standards?

We help project teams and organisations align with the UK BIM Framework by implementing workflows and documentation based on the ISO 19650 series.  This includes support with information requirements, naming conventions, the Information Protocol, and guidance on roles and responsibilities throughout the asset lifecycle.  We also assist in developing and reviewing key documents such as the Project Information Requirements (PIR), Exchange Information Requirements (EIR), and Information Delivery Plans (IDP).

Can you help us create or audit our BIM Execution Plan (BEP)?

Absolutely.  We can develop, review, and optimise BEPs to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with your Clients EIRs and other project goals.

Data & Analytics

How can we use data to improve project outcomes?

By organising and harvesting the right data and understanding the data already in your possession we can help integrate dashboards, automating reporting, and analysing trends.  This helps understand how you can reduce risk, improve decision-making, and enhance productivity.

Can you help us set up Power BI dashboards for project reporting?

Of course! we can design and implement dashboards that pull data from your CDE, project management tools, and other sources.

Training & Change Management

Do you provide training for digital tools and workflows?

Yes, we can offer tailored training sessions for teams at all levels, from site operatives to Senior Management.

How do you manage resistance to digital change?

Through stakeholder engagement, clear communication, pilot programs, and demonstrating value early in the process.

Security & Compliance

How do you ensure data security and compliance?

We have worked with IT and legal teams to ensure platforms meet GDPR, ISO 27001, and other relevant standards, and advise on secure data practices.

Innovation & Future Trends

What emerging technologies should we be aware of?

AI in construction is what everyone’s talking about.  Digital twins is also a hot topic, especially with the recent release of ISO 30173.  IoT sensors, robotics, and blockchain for contracts are gaining traction too and all of the above offer significant potential to the Construction industry at all levels.

Can you help us explore Digital Twin implementation?

Absolutely, everything we want to do and promote leads us to the creation of Digital Twins.  We can guide you through the strategy, tools, and data requirements for creating and maintaining a Digital Twin.
